GEA Meeting April 5, 2012

Treasurer’s Report

All GEA members who are on leave have paid their dues.
Membership
• We have 172 members.
Region 37
• Evaluation systems used by other sender schools were discussed.
Old Business
• A vote on the 2012-2013 GEA slate will occur on April 10th.
• Central School’s dress code was discussed. GEA officially recommends to the membership that it no longer enforce the dress code until it can be clarified and put into writing. We are making this recommendation due to concerns that enforcing the dress code as it currently exists could make a teacher vulnerable to allegations of enforcing his or her personal opinion/personal standards or possibly to charges of sexual harassment.
New Business
• There will be a social gathering on April 13th at Tommy Nevins in Evanston.
• We will be honoring our teacher associates and retirees in May.
The next meeting will be May 3, 2012, in Laura Moninski’s classroom.
